About Cliff Culture

More Than a Sport, It’s a Culture

There’s a unique moment you can only ever experience in climbing – chalk on your hands, the world shrinking to just you and the wall, a puzzle of movement waiting to be solved.

Whether you’re 10 feet up on a boulder or 100 feet up on a sport route, that feeling of focus, challenge, and accomplishment is universal.

That’s what Cliff Culture is all about.

We’re here to talk about climbing – for the curious first-timer trying on their rental shoes and for the seasoned veteran planning their next big adventure.

Our Mission

Climbing can seem intimidating from the outside. What’s a “crimp”? Which harness is the right one? How do you go from a plastic gym hold to real rock?

Cliff Culture was born to answer those questions.

This site is here to be the resource we didn’t have – a place free of confusing jargon and full of straightforward, practical advice. Our mission is to break down barriers and make climbing accessible to everyone by providing:

  • A passionate community. We believe climbing is built on shared experiences and support. We’re here to celebrate the culture of climbing – the triumphs, the struggles, and the incredible people you meet along the way.
  • Honest, in-depth gear reviews. We cut through the marketing fluff. We test and review the gear that keeps you safe and helps you perform, from your first pair of shoes to the perfect crash pad.
  • Actionable climbing guides. Our tutorials and articles are designed to help you climb smarter and safer. Learn essential techniques, improve your training, and master the skills you need to reach your goals.
Cliff Culture founder Luc Gonzales

Meet the Founder

Hey, I’m Luc. As a perpetual bouldering enthusiast, I started Cliff Culture because I realized I spent more time talking, thinking, and learning about climbing than anything else.

I wanted to create a central hub to share my passion and help others fall in love with this incredible sport, just as I have.

Thank you for being here. We hope our site helps you on your journey to reaching new heights.

See you at the crag!
